Funky Chairs

Who would have thought that designs and concepts would evolve back to earlier eras after the Second World War ended? One of the most remarkable events in the post-war era is the invention of retro furniture articles that come as loud as it could be.

People were really excited about life and the future when the war ended and this excitement showed in the craftsmanship of these chairs. Retro designs are more commonly called as funky chairs as they really look eccentric. In the contemporary time, the designs for furniture pieces including the entire home interior decoration are made to be complementary – in a way monotonous – to exude a more relaxing ambiance at home. However, because people are naturally imaginative and inventive, those with more creative ideas have found inspiration in retro chairs

So what makes funky chairs funky? First and foremost, the shapes and designs. Individuals can buy funky chairs in a shape of a palm, banana, music note, egg, reclining person, orange, ball, telephone booth and so on. Crazy hey? Second, they come in a variety of colours, mostly neon ones. A simple chair with odd stripes and colour combination can already pass under this category. Third, is the size. Funky chairs can be really big depending on the design. What makes these chairs more attractive is that the materials used in making them are contemporary so that people will enjoy both old and contemporary designs.

In decorating home with funky chairs, certain considerations on the size, space and usability of the chairs need to be thought of. A small area could not accommodate more than one large size chair; as much as a wider space would not look good with multiple small size chairs. Also the room where the chairs will be placed must also be considered. A child’s bedroom might not need an egg-shaped chair or a reclining man in the kitchen area.

The usability of the chair is also important. There are funky chairs that are for decorative purposes only and could not be used as a seat. These could be placed in areas that need a decoration to fill in. Otherwise, if the space is just enough, a right-size, comfortable chair can be integrated in the whole interior decoration.

Homeowners need not to throw their old sofas if they are still in good condition. One funky chair in the living room is already enough to spice up the whole decoration of the area. Since these chairs are really loud to catch attention, overusing them in one area is a major home design malfunction; so funky chairs should only be used sparingly or in very small number.
